I enjoy reading, writing & speaking

Create a Mindmap outlining the key parts of the story.

Write a brief synopsis of what might be included if there was a Chapter 19.

Write a Newspaper Headline/article reporting & exposing the Galaxarena complex. 

Construct a sociogram to compare/contrast the characters & their relationships.

Using the PebÕs glossary as a guide, create more terms in the PebÕs language.

Prepare a list of criteria that Hythe would use to find suitable performers

MATHEMATICAL

Construct a time-line of important events from the childrenÕs abduction to the final chapter.

Make a flow chart of how a child goes from  being in their place of origin to performing in the Galaxarena

Using Measurement, Area & Geometry, construct a 2D aerial view of Galaxarena including a measurement scale.

It costs $2million to run Galaxarena for 12mths. Breakdown these costs:

Travelling ¼ of cost.

Repair/replace equipment: 2/5 of cost.

Using a map of the State, find an appropriate site for the Genesis Five Project / Galaxarena & justify your choice.

Prepare an argument for or against the use of animals / humans for medical research.

VISUAL/SPATIAL

Create ÒStory-BoardÓ paintings of the main events in Galaxarena (alone/pairs/max 4)

Create a 2-sided painting that depicts the dual nature of an appropriate character

Create a poster advertisement promoting Galaxarena as a venue children should attend.

Use a Venn Diagram to compare/contrast circuses & zoos (purpose, performance, shelter, research etc)

Design a new apparatus for the children to showcase their acrobatic skills. Depict performance aspects.

 

KINAESTHETIC

I enjoy hands-on activities, sports/dance

Give a practical talk/ demonstration to explain why warm-up activities are necessary before a gymnastic routine.

Make a model of a Galaxarena character performing a skill as understood by you from the bookÕs description.

Construct a diorama of the Galaxarena on  ÒPerformance NightÓ.

Create a Publisher or Powerpoint Presentation that outlines the main themes of Galaxarena.

Use materials from home/school to design and make a Galaxarena costume.

Cut out wordsand pictures from magazines to create a collage representing the main themes of Galaxarena.

MUSICAL

I enjoy making & listening to music

 

Choose and explain (using aspects of the instrument) why you feel a particular instrument accurately ÒrepresentsÓ a character.

Select small group to work with & select body & instrument percussion to accompany rap song. (see Creating)

Bring in music you feel would be appropriate while the children are performing.

Create a rap-song with 1 or 2 other people about the pros or cons (or both) of being a Galaxarena performer.

Perform rap-song (see Creating) for peers / Assembly including body & instrument percussion.

INTERPERSONAL

Brainstorm/record with a partner all the aspects of daily & long term care that would be needed for the children of Galaxarena.

With a friend, perform a short conversation between 2 Galaxarena children.

Discuss/present in small groups the Ògroup dynamicsÓ/roles present in the Galaxarena children. Compare with other groups they belong to.

With a friend, create & perform a short radio advertisement to encourage investment in the  ÒGenesis Five ProjectÓ.

 

Design a ÒSurvival GuideÓ for new Galaxarena performers.  Present your work as an illustrated pamphlet.   

INTERPERSONAL

JoellaÕs family all had different individual talents. Make a table of you & your family members and list all the skills each member has.

Draw an interpretative diagram of ÒBro RabbitÓ .  Surround him with names of characters he interacted with/use key phrases about his impact on the plot.

Think of 5 questions you would ask each of the following performers:  an Olympic gymnast; a trapeze artist & a lion-tamer.

If you could choose to be any circus performer, who would you choose to be and why?

Choose a main character from Galaxarena and predict what you think will happen to them

Create a Y-Chart  for what the Galaxarena Looks/Sounds/Feels Like.
